Surrounded By Greatness | Celebrating Walter In So Many Ways
We always say we could NOT do what we do without our truly amazing clients! The honor of partnering with them may begin in a transition time in their lives, but often extends into their stories and lives in the years that follow. Our very first client is someone who has given us SO much to celebrate over the years, and continues to do so to this day! We decided it was way past time for him to make his debut in the T-O-P Move Management blog: without further ado….this week we are pleased to introduce you to Walter Vincenti!
We would be thrilled to declare that Walter’s stunning achievements began when he served as our very first client and became the inspiration for countless move management clients to follow! Walter and his family enlisted our services to help him change apartments within the community in which he lived. But truth be told, Walter’s contributions to those around him started long before he gave us a glimpse into his journey. At the age of 10 years old, Walter’s profound fascination with aeronautics began in a movie house – as the crowd received news that the Lindberg had just landed in Paris and the theater erupted into cheers and applause. The newfound fact that someone could fly across the ocean was far more than the enthusiasm of a young boy, and evolved into the creation of one of the most accomplished and widely recognized aeronautics and astronautics professionals in existence (though Walter would never tell you himself – he’s far too humble!).
As founder of the Aeronautical Engineering program at Stanford University, Walter is a nationally renowned professor and author of 11 distinct works, whom has exemplified expertise through full-spectrum careers in aerospace engineering, the history of technology, and instruction. He has been inducted into the National Academy of Engineering and may be most well-known for his work “What Engineers Know & How They Know It: Analytical Studies from Aeronautical History”.
While we could go on and on about the many ways in which Walter has positively contributed to and impacted the fields of aerospace, technology, engineering and education – his industry awards and accolades speak for themselves.
Most recently, Walter was just awarded the 2016 AIAA/ASME/SAE/AHS Daniel Guggenheim Medal at a February 24th ceremony surrounded by his peers, admirers and fellow aerospace enthusiasts at Stanford University. According to The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), “the Daniel Guggenheim Medal honors people who have made notable achievements in the advancement of aeronautics.” As an honor jointly sponsored by AIAA, ASME, SAE, and AHS – it was established in 1929. As if that weren’t reason enough to celebrate…Walter also turned 100 years old just last week and we spent time with him celebrating!! As our commencing T-O-P Move Management client, an award-winning professional and a genuinely inspiring individual – we cannot express the extent of our admiration for Walter! Because we believe that every recognition deserves to be given and that every celebration deserves to be shared – we invite you to join us in celebrating Walter in one of two ways (or both if you like!): 1) Eat something lemon – it is his ABSOLUTE favorite dessert! 2) Admire artwork by one of your favorite creators – Walter’s favorite artist was his wife and his apartment is filled with her creations!
Thank you Walter and family for allowing us to be surrounded by greatness - and to share our admiration for him with all of you! ~ Julie & Helen
